A total of 30 cities in Indonesia secure assistance in climate action from the global covenant of mayors (GCOM) for Southeast Asia Climate and Energy funded by the European Union.

The secretariat of the global covenant of mayors (GCOM) for Southeast Asia climate and energy collaborated with the Jakarta provincial administration to hold a workshop on the funding of climate action for regional administrations in Indonesia. 24 regencies and cities that are committed to reducing city emissions participated in the event that was held in Jakarta on 30-31 August, 2023.

This action was first launched in Indonesia in 2018 with four pilot cities of the GCOM program. Team leader GCOM Asia, says that regional administration are becoming more aware of climate change and committed to reducing emissions.
