Cooperation and Democratic Progress: PM meets with ASEAN Special Envoy and Secretariat

On Wednesday, Chairman of the State Administration Council, Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, received the Special Envoy of the ASEAN Chair on Myanmar, Mr. Alounkeo Kittikhoun, and the ASEAN Secretariat, Dr. Kao Kim Hourn, along with their delegation, at his office in Nay Pyi Taw.

During the meeting, they discussed several key issues, including Myanmar’s commitment to active participation in ASEAN, the nation's involvement in ASEAN meetings, and the humanitarian assistance provided by ASEAN to Myanmar.

The discussions highlighted the distribution of aid to the needy communities within Myanmar, Myanmar's ongoing efforts to transition towards a multi-party democracy and the preparations for conducting free and fair multi-party democratic general elections. They also addressed the importance of communicating the real situation in Myanmar to the international community, ensuring national stability and development in alignment with the 5-point Road Map.

Additionally, the meeting covered the provision of support for peaceful resolutions to the current situation in Myanmar and the enhancement of cooperation between ASEAN and Myanmar.
