Myanmar Government has been working to evacuate 63 Myanmar students studying in Wuhan, the Chinese city at the epicenter of a new coronavirus outbreak. Ministry of Health and Sports has also planned health test on the evacuees after their arrival.

China has cut off access to Wuhan and 16 other cities in the central Hubei province to prevent people from leaving and spreading the virus further. Wuhan is one of 17 cities across China's Hubei province where more than 50 million people are trapped in a lockdown.

Video shot on Wednesday showed near-empty streets, with few residents venturing out of doors, and next to no traffic. The new virus has now infected more people in China than were sickened there during the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak. On Thursday, the number of cases jumped to 7,711, surpassing the 5,327 people diagnosed with SARS. The death toll, which stood at 170, is still less than half the number who died in China from SARS, or severe acute respiratory syndrome.
