

Bago Region Government began its 16-day activity on Friday marking the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women falling on November 25. Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win addressed the beginning of the activity at the town hall in Bago, stressing that promoting the role of women and protecting the women from violence is fulfilling the full rights of women.
He also called for efforts to increase the speed to eliminate violence against women in various ways. This activity includes erecting awareness signboards and distributing pamphlets in crowded places. Awareness trainings related to gender-based violence will be opened in townships and districts of the Region.
The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The premise of the day is to raise awareness around the world that women are subjected to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence. This year’s theme is UNITE! Activism to End Violence against Women & Girls.
