EV Charging Stations: EV charging stations will be built at 19 places from nine companies

With the instructions of the National Leading Committee on Development of Electric Vehicles and related Businesses, EV charging stations were building at 19 places in Nay Pyi Taw (NPT), Yangon, Mandalay and Yangon –Mandalay expressway as the initial stage of pilot project.

On March 19,the charging stations were opened at the east of the Yangon Central Railway Station and Thirimingalar market simultaneously.

Deputy Minister, Ministry of construction, Win Pe, said " To reduce the contamination of natural environment, the government formed a leading committee on 7th June 2022 to use EV cars in Myanmar. Under the leading committee, there are five working committees. Under the instruction of leading committee, we implemented five stations in Yangon, four stations in NPT and five stations in Mandalay and 5 stations along Yangon –Mandalay expressway as a pilot project. The very first one is launched by MPK company at the front of the Thapyaykone market on 4th of March and  opening stations in Yangon is second time."

As the pilot project, EV charging stations were building at the 19 places by nine companies.

CEO, Essential Motor Co.,Ltd., Wai Yan Min Naing, said " The EV cars can be charged at our station with 60 kilowatt fast charger from 6 AM to 10 PM. As the EV cars do not use fuel, those have zero emission that is the way of preserving natural environment. By using EV cars, we can reduce cost for fuel at 10 times. The general cost for fuel powered engine can be saved substantially such as cost for engine oil, maintenance fee etc. I am so proud of using EV cars in Myanmar like other countries."

Managing Director, APAC Co.,Ltd, Naung Lett, said " As our company, we imported 30 EV cars as taxis at the pilot project. We will operate the 20 EV taxis in Yangon and 10 in Mandalay. We will facilitate to charge the battery at the stations not only in Yangon but also in Mandalay, NPT and highway. Depending on the capacity of battery most are ranging from 40 kilowatt to 60 kilowatt, it takes 30 to 45 minutes to reach 20 % to 80%. ."

The Government set the prices 400 Kyats for a unit.The National Leading Committee on Development of Electric Vehicles and related Businesses will conduct segmentally to spread across the nation.
