Google scraps plan to remove third-party cookies from Chrome

After years of deliberation, Google's "Privacy Sandbox" initiative announced it will not be phasing out third-party cookies from its Chrome browser.

The cookies allow advertisers to collect user information. The UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) had said the plan would hinder competition. Vice president of the Google-backed Privacy Sandbox initiative Anthony Chavez said they were working with the CMA as well as website publishers and data privacy groups for a new approach on the topic.
