Grand Procession: 101st Procession Of 28 Buddha Images In Pyinmana

The grand procession of 28 Buddha images was held in Pyinmana Township on the 13th of October, the full moon night of Thadingyut.

The Buddha images procession has been annually held and this is for 101st year and is the dignity of the town, Pyinmana. All the residents of the town are proud of holding this event as a kind of preserving the tradition. The public obeisance procession started at 4pm from Tat Twin prayer hall. The event included prize presentation program for the decorated Buddha image conveying vehicles.

Judge, Nay Win Khaing said “There are 10 rules and regulations of judging the floats carrying the Buddha images. The significant of Pyinmana’s Buddha Images Procession ceremony is not only about judging the floats but the unity in reciting the Buddha’s teachings and team work. As the mark highly depends on the float decoration, the float has to be in line with the tradition and history of Buddhism.”

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th winners will be selected out of 28 competed floats. 2.5 million kyats for 1st prize, 2 million kyats for 2nd prize, 1.5 million kyats for 3rd prize, 1 million kyats for 4th prize and 500,000 kyats for 5th prize. Winners will be given awards on the 15th of October.

Nan Taw Sin Wutt Association, Aung Cho said “We’d covey the float carrying the Piyadassi Buddha image that is decorated with a style of peacock. There’s a grand floral carpet on the float too. After the grand procession in the town, we are going to go around in our ward and then the Buddha image will be resided at the ward’s prayer hall. At 2pm, we will go to the designated area.”

Buddha images were conveyed back to their original prayer halls on the 14th of October.
