Illegal Trade: Timbers, Foodstuffs, Consumer Goods And Vehicles Seized

The effective action is being taken to prevent illegal trade under the law supervised by the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee. Under the instructions of the Chairman of the Anti-Illicit Trade Task Force, an on-duty team confiscated four Kangda 125 motorbikes without any official documents from a Toyota Wish car and a Nissan AD van heading from Laukkai  to Lashio at the Chinshwehaw  Border Trade Small Vehicle Checkpoint on 28 June.

On 29 June, a combined team led by Customs Department officials captured 1,948 tiles that showed no official documents from a Chenglong 22-wheel truck heading from Myawady to Yangon near the Phayagyi Tollgate, Bago Region.

On 30th June, illegal teak, hardwood and other timbers were captured in Yedashe  and Ottwin townships. In addition, a team led by the Forest Department confiscated illegal timbers.

Similarly, on 29 and 30 June, illegal timbers in the East Yoma forest reserve of Sinbaungwe  Township and in Thayet  Township. Likewise, 30 baby motorbikes and foodstuffs and consumer goods from two trucks were captured at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe-) Combined Checkpoint.

In addition, an unregistered vehicle was confiscated by the Myanmar Police Force in Kanbalu Township, Sagaing Region on 30 June.

Therefore, 18 arrests (approximately 102.09 million Kyats) were made on three consecutive days from 28 to 30 June, according to the Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
