Ministers from Japan and five Central Asian countries met in Tokyo on Tuesday to discuss ways to collaborate on reducing carbon emissions. These were the first ministerial-level energy and economy talks in what's called the Central Asia plus Japan Dialogue.

Japan's Minister for Economy, Trade and Industry expressed that achieving carbon neutrality while simultaneously fostering economic growth and maintaining a secure energy supply is a pivotal concern for Japan, Central Asia, and the global community.

He expressed his aspiration to bolster economic and energy partnerships with Central Asian countries. The ministers issued a joint statement saying they agreed to work on a road map for net zero emissions, and would encourage public and private sector financing to help the transition from fossil fuels to renewable energy.
