Judo In School Program: Plan To Implement During This Academic Year

Myanmar Judo Federation plans to commence “Judo in School” program in the basic education schools.

The program aims for the student youths to become a selection player. Any enthusiast student can join the program and age limitation is from 5 to 10.

The program has been initiated since 2020 with the assistance of the International Judo Federation but it was postponed due to the spread of global pandemic.

Tun Tun, President, Myanmar Judo Federation said “I’d like to explain about Judo in school program. Starting of this program, I’ve met with the International Judo Federation’s President for 2 times and he let us to implement Judo in school program in 7 schools. And also the international federation will provide assistance for that. Supportive things included mat, Judo Gi and trainer fees. But the program has been postponed because of COVID 19 Pandemic. Recently, the virus is almost disappeared and so we’ll resume this program in the schools during this academic year. By doing like this, our country’s new generation athletes are well concentrated on their hobby since their childhood. Such another way, there’s a lot outstanding athletes can be nurtured.”

Players from Myanmar Judo Federation won 1 gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze medals in the previous 31st Sea Games in Viet Nam.
