According to the law on employees’ minimum wage implemented in 2020, the Macau government must hold its first review of the regime two years after it comes into effect.

After further debate in the Executive Council, the government has proposed to raise the minimum wage from 32 patacas per hour to 34 patacas. On a monthly basis, the minimum wage will be 7,072 patacas. The bill has been submitted to the Legislative Assembly, with the suggestion that the law be implemented on January 1st next year.

The Labour Affairs Bureau expects around 21,000 workers to benefit from the raise. The proposed amendments will again exclude domestic workers and disabled workers.
