Since early May, local farmers in Paung Township of Mon State have been enjoying a prosperous season thanks to their mangosteen crops. Initially, the fruit fetched high prices in the market, with large mangosteens selling for 700 kyats and regular ones for 500 kyats.

Despite a recent price drop to around 400 kyats per mangosteen, the demand remains strong, ensuring continued good earnings for the farmers. Mangosteen cultivation has spread across many townships in Mon State, with most of the produce destined for local markets, particularly in Yangon and Mandalay.
