Meritorious Deeds: Releasing fish and paying respect to the elders

Organized by Tanintharyi Region Government, Fish releasing ceremony was held at Seik Kan Thar Pontoon Bridge in Dawei Township on Wednesday morning marking the 1st day of 1386 Myanmar New Year.
Chief Minister U Myat Ko, Region Advocate General, region ministers, Commander of Coastal Region Command and concerned officials released a total of 5,000 Seabass fingerlings to Dawei River.
On the same day, the Chief Minister attended the Respect Paying Ceremony to elder persons at Sasana Beikman Taw Gyi. There, the Chief Minister delivered a speech and paid respect to the elder persons together with the invited guests. Then, one of the elder persons sent prayers and the Chief Minister and party provided cash assistance and presented gifts to the elder persons.
During the ceremony, the specialists from Dawei People’s Hospital provided healthcare services to the elder persons. The Tanintharyi Region Government donated a total of 19.64 million kyats cash assistance to a total of 491 aged 90 and above elder persons from Dawei Township.
And the Region Social Welfare Department also donated 300,000 kyats to the 35 elder persons who attended the ceremony. It’s reported that, the officials will visit to the elder persons who couldn’t attend the ceremony to provide cash assistance and gifts.
