Motorbike rider Carles Falcón dies aged 45 following Dakar Rally crash

Spanish motorbike rider Carles Falcon died at age 45 from injuries he sustained in a crash while competing at the Dakar Rally more than a week ago in Saudi Arabia, race organizers announced on Monday.

Falcón was 448 kilometers into the second stage of the race when he crashed and was airlifted to Saudi Arabia hospital for urgent medical care.  And then, he was repatriated to Spain. 

The medical team has confirmed that the neurological damage caused by the cardiorespiratory attack at the moment of the accident is irreversible.

Falcón worked as an IT engineer and was also a motorbike instructor and tour guide in his spare time.
