Myanmar / Thailand: Meeting to accelerate cooperation

Union Minster for Education Dr. Nyunt Pe held talks with Prof. Anek Laothamatas, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation of Thailand (MHESI) on Monday at the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.

This meeting focused on signing of 60 memoranda of understanding between the universities of the two countries and annual scholarship for 30 students studying Thai language at Yangon and Mandalay universities of language languages with the support of the Thailand International Cooperation Agency.

The two sides also discussed acceleration of student and teacher exchange programme, bilateral cooperation on research, research paper reading and forums as well as sending more scholars to Thailand and cooperation on sectors including microbiology, marine science, food science, agriculture, livestock and fishery education, climate change studies, tourism education, language teaching, technology-based teaching methods and quality assurance.

Also, status of educational progress and plans for continued cooperation were explained and the issue of signing a ministerial level memorandum of understanding was discussed.
