NASA held a status briefing Thursday to discuss the Artemis I Orion and to preview entry and splashdown scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 11.

The splashdown is expected to occur off the coast of Baja near Guadalupe Island. This is day 23 of the 26-day uncrewed mission that orbited the moon. Orion blasted off Nov. 16 on the debut flight of NASA's most powerful rocket ever, the Space Launch System or SLS. The next flight - as early as 2024 - will attempt to carry four astronauts around the moon.
