Nat’l Disaster Mgmt Comm. Meeting: Committee Chairman SAC Vice Chair delivered a remark

Chairman of the National Disaster Management Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice Senior General Soe Win delivered a remark at the committee meeting (1/2024) held at the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on 24th of May.

In his remark, SAC Vice Chairman said that the meeting is held with four objectives; the disasters possible to occur due to the irregular climate change which was discussed by the Prime Minister during the Union Government meeting (4/2024) held on April 22, 2024 and the status to be implemented regarding with it and the action plans, the prior coordination between the work committee and the disaster management committees of Union Territory Nay Pyi Taw, regions and states, Work implemented and to be implemented regarding with the works implementing with the natural disaster management fund and the seeking the approval of receiving, spending and balance of the national disaster management committee.

During the Union Government meeting, the Prime Minister gave guideline that to take lessons from the incidences of climate changes due to the irregular phenomenon and to carry out the preparedness by considering how to prevent the similar incidences in the country.

In the assigned duties of the national disaster management committee, it’s included that forming the necessary committees to implement the committee’s work processes, setting the policy for the important works among the stages of tasks and reviewing the progress of the committee and it’s needed to instruct after refining the requirements etc.

Next, the committee Vice chairmen Union Ministers Lt-Gen Yar Pyae and Dr. Soe Win clarified the preparations including the awareness campaigns prior to the disaster and response, rescue and collaboration when the disaster occurs.

Then, the committee secretary Deputy Minister U Soe Kyi clarified the implementations on the decisions of the previous meetings and committee’s fund, status of receiving, spending and balance.

After that, committee members Union Ministers, Chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council, Chief Ministers of Regions and States, Deputy Ministers and officials clarified the related sectors. Consequently, the Director general of the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology explained regarding with the depression forming in the central Bay of Bengal.

Then, the work committee secretary submitted the decisions of the national disaster management committee meeting (1/2024) and sought the approval of the committee. After that, Chairman of the Natinal Disaster Management Committee Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister coordinated the requirements and delivered a speech of conclusion.
