The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation is implementing the reforestation initiative, targeting to plant over 22 million saplings across more than 22,000 acres of land during the upcoming monsoon season.

As part of this initiative, each village in 13 districts across Sagaing, Mandalay, and Magway Regions will establish 2-acre firewood plantations. On May 18th, Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Khin Maung Yi visited several villages in Mandalay and Magway Regions to oversee the preparation processes.

During his visit, the Union Minister engaged with local villagers, emphasizing the importance of their efforts in ensuring the success of the plantations. He urged them to view this reforestation project as a national duty and to contribute actively to its success.
