North China’s Shanxi Province has seen a rapid increase of North China leopards in recent years, according to a latest survey on the leopard population and its distribution.

Classified as Endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), the North China leopard, one of nine leopard subspecies globally, is showing signs of recovery. Compared to a 2018 survey that counted 132 North China leopards, a recent study reveals significant growth in both their population size and habitat range.
