Pope Francis meets President of Indonesia

Pope Francis met President of Indonesia Joko Widodo at start of Asia-Pacific tour. They called for interfaith dialogue and rejection of extremism on Wednesday during a meeting at Merdeka Palace.

On Thursday, the Pope is expected to meet with Muslim, Buddhist, Protestant, Hindu, and Confucian leaders as well as other Catholic public figures. Indonesia is the first stop in the Pope’s 12-day four-nation tour of Asia and Oceania. His journey will also include stops in Singapore, Timor-Leste, and Papua New Guinea.
