Press Conference: SAC Information Team Held Press Briefing

The Information Team of the State Administration Council held the press conference at the Ministry of Information on Wednesday. Leader of the Information Team Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained the efforts for achieving peace process in the past, present and future.

He also explained the efforts of the State Administration Council for paving the way to establish the democracy based on federal system. He added that the government is striving for solidarity of the all-entire ethnic people, and ethnic languages and culture are being promoted and safeguarded for long term existence.

Ethnic language teachers have been appointed at the basic education schools to explain the school lessons in the respective languages at the ethnic areas.The Maj-Gen later made explanations on the efforts for the disaster prevention and preparedness measures such as broadcast announcement for the cyclone in timely manner.

He added that cyclone shelters have been built and motorboats and life jackets have been provided to the respective regions and states for disaster response measures. Concerning the Monkey pox disease which has been spread widely on social media, the Maj-Gen said to follow the prevention measures, and not to worry too much. For the education sector, the school enrollment week has been designated from 26th May to 1st June, andover 5.2 million students completed their enrollment as of May 31st for the 2022-2023 academic year.

The Maj-Gen explained that the government is striving for ensuring all school going aged children to have education access. He also pointed out the destructive acts of terrorists at the education facilities, and said that actions will be taken to the culprits after making investigations. 

Member of the Union Election Commission U Khin Maung Oo later made explanation on the preparation measures for the upcoming election, action being taken to those involved in the election fraud and compiling the voter lists. Then, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, UEC member U KhinMaungOo and officials replied to queries raised by media.
