Press Conference: SAC Information Team held press briefing

The Information Team of the State Administration Council held the press conference at the Ministry of Information on Friday.

Leader of the Information Team Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun explained about the regional meetings attended by the state’s dignitaries in local and abroad.

During these meetings, officials from Royal Thai Army pledged to provide assistance for the return of the student youths at the border areas as per the invitation by the State Administration Council.

The Maj-Gen also explained the hosting of Ministerial level Mekong-Lancang Cooperation meeting in Bagan next week. He later made explanation on the ongoing peace process being implemented by the government.

For the education, the Maj-Gen said Ayeyawady Region has seen the most numbers of students attending the basic education schools while Kayah State seen the least numbers for this academic year.

He added that the government is making efforts for every student to complete KG+9 and to continue their studies for vocational education. For COVID-19 updates, since the infection rates by lab test is under 0.19%, it can be said that the disease transmission has been cut off.

So also, the recovery rate is 99.73%, and it shows that the country’s situation is back to normalcy like other countries.

But there are still higher infection rates in the neighbouring countries, and the precaution measures are still needed.  He urged all to get COVID-19 vaccines without fail.

The Maj-Gen also explained the government’s efforts for boosting production of the edible oil, and sufficient supply of fuel in the country. He continued to explained the local and international loans, saying that there are over 22,244 billion US dollars from 2011-2012 to 2018-2019 fiscal year.

The loan volumes have been increased year after year from 2016-2017 to 2022-2021 fiscal year. The government is paying back about 700 billion US dollars every year.

The Maj-Gen later explained the terrorist acts committed by the PDF, and the return of the youths to the legal fold.

Member of the Union Election Commission U Khin Maung Oo later made explanation on the process for taking action to those who involved in the electoral fraud during the 2020 multi-party democracy general election, preparation measures for the upcoming election, including the compiling of voter lists.

Then, Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun, UEC member U Khin Maung Oo and officials replied to queries raised by media.
