Rare white lion twins were born on Oct. 2 in Jinan Wildlife Park in east China's Shandong Province. The twin cubs, one male and one female, are in good health and just opened their eyes on Sunday. As it was her first birth, the mother lion did not know how to properly take care of the cubs. So the zoo keepers put them into an incubator and took good care of them.

Born on the second day of the National Day holiday from Oct.1-7, the cubs were lovingly called "National Day babies" by the zoo keepers. The keepers took meticulous care of them round-the-clock. They fed the cubs with goat milk every three hours, monitored their temperatures, measured their body weight, played with them and fondled them. The park has a total of three adult white lions, one male and two females. One lioness gave birth to the twins this time. It is also the first successful breeding of the white lions in the park.
