Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with members of the Kayah State Government, departmental personnel, townselders and locals at the Kayah State Government Office on Wednesday.
Chief Minister U Zaw Myo Tin provided update reports on resettlement of the displaced persons in Loikaw, mine clearing tasks in the residential areas, implementation of agriculture and livestock works, ensuring sufficiency of rice and edible oil, efforts for boosting crop yields, disbursement of loans from the State Economic Development Fund, reoperation of Loikaw Industrial Zone, sales of fertilizers and farm implements with reasonable prices, providing better public health treatment, arrangements for reopening of basic education schools, colleges and universities, rehabilitation efforts, phase by phase repair of departmental buildings, sufficient supply of drinking water, maintenance of damaged substations and power lines, renovation of Loikaw Airport, running of passenger buses and cargo trucks, repair works for communication towers and mobile station, assistance being provided for the displaced persons and departmental staff, reconstruction of Thiri Mingala Market and development works in Loikaw to meet the city characteristics.
Union Minister for Health Dr Thet Khaing Win elaborated on the measures to be provided for Loikaw People’s Hospital that has been damaged by the terrorist attacks. Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing discussed that Loikaw and the surrounding areas have been damaged by attacks from KNDF and PDF terrorists, and that has hindered regional development and destabilized the region. He called for local community collaboration in eradicating these terrorists and ensuring regional security.
Emphasizing the importance of promoting education for regional development, the Prime Minister urged all to work together to ensure all school-aged children get access to education, while also striving to enhance the healthcare sector. He also highlighted the need for local community cooperation in rehabilitation efforts and acknowledged the diligent efforts of departmental staff during this time.
The Prime Minister reiterated that the government is making arrangements to hold a free and fair multi-party democratic general election, with a population and housing census scheduled for October. He urged all to contribute to the successful implementation of these tasks in Kayah State by working towards achieving peace and stability.
During the meeting, foodstuff and provisions were presented for the members of Kayah State Government, departmental personnel, security members and displaced persons. After the meeting, the Prime Minister and party took a tour around Loikaw City, observing the rehabilitation measures.
They oversaw the construction of progress of Thiri Mingala Market which has been destroyed by the terrorists. During the tour, the Prime Minister visited the historic wish granting Myo Nam Shwe Ceti and paid homage to the Buddha Image, offering flowers, water and light. Cash donations were also contributed for all-round renovation of the pagoda.
