Republic Day of India: India Embassy in Myanmar marks the 74th anniversary

The India Embassy in Myanmar celebrated the 74th Anniversary of the country’s Republic Day at the India House in Yangon on Thursday.

Republic Day is the day when India marks and celebrates the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect on 26 January 1950. 26 January was chosen as the date for Republic Day and celebrated every year. 

H.E. Mr. Vinay Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar said “The Constitution provides basic framework for the Democratic Federal republic of India and it is one of the major documents of the Indian Republic. All the people, all defenders, linguistic groups joint together in peacefully, politically and also marching forwards. So, it is very important day for our calendar.”

Diplomatic relations between Myanmar and India have been 75 years and India-Myanmar relations are rooted in shared historical, ethnic, cultural and religious ties.

H.E. Mr. Vinay Kumar, Indian Ambassador to Myanmar said “Our relations are very old arise from the time of Lord Buddha. Culture ties, religious ties, civilization ties, connect between our people and religious states….Palis and all that forms are foundation of religious between the two countries…. We have cooperated very extensively in all arena and one of the major development partners of India is Myanmar.”

The Republic day is celebrated in India on 26th January every year, to commemorate the date on which the Constitution of India came into effect and the country became a republic. India celebrated with the festival and activities across the country on the celebration day.
