In Germany, water levels on the Rhine River could reach a critically low point in the coming days, making it increasingly difficult to transport goods - including coal and petrol - as drought and an energy crisis grips Europe.
The water level at Kaub between Mainz and Koblenz, which is important for shipping on the Rhine, has continued to fall. It was 32 centimeters on Monday morning - around five centimeters lower than at the same time the previous day.
According to a forecast by the authority, the water level could oscillate between 31 and 33 centimeters by Friday.
