The Rice Commodity Depot (Wadan) is the main rice distributor in Yangon and about 40,000 to 60,000 bags of rice arrive at the depot every day.

Nay Lin, Chairman, Myanmar Rice Traders Association, said " The months of October, November and December is the time when the rice is harvested.  We are working to stabilize the rice price in the market. At the Rice Commodity Depot (Wadan), there are about 40,000 and 50,000 bags of rice arriving per day, and the good quality rice market is stable. This month, the various paw san rice are being harvested and around 40% of normal quality rice have already been harvested. So, We estimate that there will be more supply of rice in the market next month. Also we are developing the contract farming system to stabilize the market and ensure abundant food."

Currently, the Myanmar Rice Traders Association is exporting 200,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh under the G to G contract. It’s reported that the Association is trying to export at least 2 million tons of rice per year to foreign markets.
