South Korean President Moon Jae-in on Thursday congratulated U.S. President-elect Joe Biden on his victory in the US elections. During a phone conversation, Moon and Biden vowed to strengthen their countries' alliance and work together to tackle COVID-19, according to South Korea's presidential spokesperson.
Biden reiterated Washington's commitment to defend South Korea, and pledged to coordinate with Seoul in a push to defuse a nuclear standoff with North Korea, Moon's office said.
