School Re-Opening: Basic Education High School Level To Open On 21st July

The high school level classes under the Ministry of Education will be resumed across the country starting 21st of July.

The preparations for safety measure and prevention against the COVID-19 disease among the students are in progress. The officials are making effort to re-open the schools under the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports and Ministry of Education.

In Insein Township of Yangon North District, there are 50 Basic Education Schools. Among them, 8 Basic Education High Schools will be re-opened for the first phase.

Township Education Officer, Insein Township Education Department, Kyaw Oo said “There are 8 high schools, 12 middle schools and 30 primary schools in Insein Township. 8 high schools will start to open for Grade-10 and Grade-11 classes. So, we are preparing for the safety and emergency response measure for COVID-19 virus.”

It is learnt that cloth masks, face shields will be provided to the students and also thermometer to each school.

Township Education Officer, Insein Township Education Department, Kyaw Oo said “We held a meeting with all the school principals for installation of hand washing basin, distribution of reusable masks, table arrangement for social distancing, cleansing and disinfectant spraying at the classrooms. The private schools and monastic schools will also be opened under the guidance of the Department of the Basic Education.”

Up to now, there are about 9.7 million students and over 500,000 teachers and staffs in over 47,000 schools throughout the country.
