South Korea announced that President Yoon Suk Yeol will hold a summit with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida in Tokyo on Thursday. National Security Adviser Kim Sung-han said in a briefing on Tuesday that the summit and dinner will occur on the first day of the two-day visit to Japan.

Kim said Yoon's visit to Tokyo will be an important opportunity to normalize the "long-strained" ties between the two countries. Yoon is scheduled to visit Japan on March 16-17 at the invitation of the Japanese government.
