South Korea and the U.S. held combined air drills over the Yellow Sea, Seoul's defense ministry said Thursday.

The ministry said the United States flew B-1B bombers and F-22 and F-35 fighter jets in an exercise with South Korean fighters above South Korea’s western waters, which it said was aimed at demonstrating U.S. commitment to defend its ally with the full range of its military capabilities.

The exercise came after Tuesday's meeting between U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin and South Korean Defense Minister Lee Jong-sup where they agreed to increase the frequency of joint military drills and expand their scale and level.
