Study Tour: MoI Union Minister visits solar and steel factories

A delegation led by Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn at the invitation of the Provincial Governor of Yunnan Province to attend the 7th China-South Asia Expo held in Kunming City, the 27th China (Kunming) Export/Import Expo, the Greater Mekong Economic Corridor Forum 2023 and related events made visits in Chuqi City of Yunnan province on 20th August.

First, they visited a solar factory and relevant officials explained related matters. This solar factory is the third largest solar panel manufacturer in the world with a total of 1,700 employees and operates with more than 800 robots in production and material transportation.

They also visited a steel factory and officials explained operations of the factory. The steel factory is the third largest steel factory in Yunnan Province and is operating with 2 iron melting pots with a size of 1,200 square meters. Iron ore which is the raw material of the factory is obtained from Myanmar, Brazil, Australia, China, and it can produce more than 36 million tons of steel a year.

On Monday morning, China International Cooperation Association of SMES Executive Director Global Business, CEO Mr. Yi Homs and officials explained the implementation of Southeast Asia digital economy with e-commerce at the Wanda Realm hotel in Kunming city.

In that Web Portal, the commerce activities of 10 countries including the Mekong-Lancang member countries are being carried out by obtaining the information of business, culture, transportation and distribution.  In the afternoon, the Union Minister and officials arrived back in Yangon and were welcomed by the Myanmar and Chinese officials at the Yangon International Airport.
