People were forced to walk to work across the Mexico City megalopolis as taxi drivers shut down major arteries, snarling traffic on Monday to protest ride sharing applications like Uber, Didi and Cabify. Taxis sat parked along the city's monument-lined road and tourists were stranded at the airport for part of the day as taxis blocked access to Terminal 1 of the city's international airport. Mexico City was among the first cities in the world to regulate Uber after the popular app burst onto the scene.
