Thai-Myanmar exports resume: Zero customs rate from 1st Feb to 31st Aug introduced

Corn, broken rice, tapioca and mung beans are being exported to Thailand with zero percentage of customs duty as Myanmar Thai exports during from 1st February to 31 st August.

In September, 2022, exporting of corn to Thai was halted for a while with bilateral agreement and starting from 1st February 2023, export items from Myanmar to Thailand will be resumed with zero percentage of customs duty.

General Secretary, Myanmar Corn Industrial Association , Dr. Phyo Ko Ko Naing, said "The exporting halted for five months from September to the end of January. We were collected at 72 % of the customs duty within those halted period but the normal trade will be resumed with zero customs rate during from 1st February to 31st August. Besides corn, broken rice, tapioca and mung beans will be included in zero customs rate. The total export is estimated to be over 2 million metric tons. Among them, 70% of exporting will go to Mawaddy border trade zone.

Exports of those items mainly flowed into Thailand until last year and Vietnam and the Philippines also include. This year, besides them, China and many othercountries show their interesting in buying those items.
