Thousands of anti-government demonstrators rallied in Lebanon's capital on Sunday as nationwide protests against the country's rulers persevere despite the resignation of Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri. Protesters packed into Beirut's Martyr's Square and rallied into the evening, waving flags and dancing to music in front of a central stage.

A massive wave of demonstrations has gripped Lebanon since Oct. 17 amid a deepening political and economic crisis. The protests have been less intense since Hariri resigned, but demonstrators remain on the streets and a core demand is the rapid formation of a government led by technocrats to carry out badly needed economic reforms.
