Tourism Of Myeik Archipelago: Preparations For The Convenience And Safety Of Visitors

Myeik archipelago is located in Taninthayi region, Southern Myanmar. Preparations are being made to attract more visitors to Kawthaung and Myeik Archipelago where the best golden pearls are extracted in the country. The islands of the Myeik Archipelago offer a wide variety of sights and adventurous activities and arrangements are being made for the locals and foreign visitors to be able relax in opening season.

There are more than 800 islands in Thaninthayi region and Myeik Archipelago is comprised of more than 200 islands. Likewise, Lanbi island located in Myeik Archipelago was established as the first Myanmar’s Marine National Park in 1996.Lampi is one of the most popular islands for visitors to the archipelago which is rich in biodiversity, mangroves and coral reefs. According to the research of Marine Biologists, 195 species of mangroves and 63 species of natural plants, 19 species of mammals at the coral reefs and, the cold-blooded and warm-blooded animal species inhabit in the Myeik Archipelago.

Tourism of Myeik Archipelago was established in 2014. For the development of tourism industry, measures are being undertaken in cooperation with locals and tour guides for the visitors, running speed boats, safety for the visitors and conservation of environment, it’s learnt.
