Tradition and Culture Preservation: 24th performing arts competition awarding ceremony

Awarding ceremony of the 24th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition was held at the Myanmar International Convention Center-2 in Nay Pyi Taw on Tuesday with the attendance of Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

Also present at the occasion were the wife of the Chairman of the State Administration Council Daw Kyu Kyu Hla, the wife of the Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Daw Than Than Nwe, Union level officials, Union Ministers, Chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council and many other concerned officials.

In his speech, the Senior General said that the 24th Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts Competition had been successfully held in grandeur according to the specified target. He expressed his desire for all ethnicity to strive to strengthen friendship by preserving and promoting the national cultural heritage and to become those who are able to raise the prestige and the integrity of the nation.

He reiterated that the Myanmar Traditional Cultural Performing Arts competitions were held for 22 times since 1993 till 2016 to value the traditional culture and to strengthen the patriotic and national spirit for the interest of the nation and its people.

The competitions had been suspended for more than five years and resumed in 2022. This year is the second time of successfully holding of the competition under the guidance of the State Administration Council.

Also, the government is making concerted efforts from all corners to ensure stability and peace for the nation, friendship of ethnic national brethren and socio-economic development of the public as well as to nurture the new generation youths with physical and mental morality who can shoulder the state duties.

He urged all contestants to serve the state duties for the interest of the nation and the people based on the success achieved. Then, the Senior General presented honorary awards to ethnic dance troupes from Kachin, Kayah, Kayin, Chin, Mon, Rakhine and Shan States. Then, the Shan ethnic dance troupe performed Shan traditional dance to the audience.

In the competition, Yangon Region team won 143 awards, Mandalay Region team 81, Ayeyawaddy Region team 56, Kayin State team 31, Sagaing Region team 32, Bago Region team 40, Mon State team 32, Rakhine State team 17, Tanintharyi Region team 19, Kachin State team 19, Kayah State team 16, Shan State team 15, Chin State team 14 and Magway Region team 16.
