UN event marks 150 years since Gandhi's birth

World leaders paid tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on the 150th anniversary of his birth at a United Nations event on Tuesday. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke of Gandhi's ability to affect change through non-violent means and impact lives billions of people from all over the world including Martin Luther King Jr and Nelson Mandela. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said Gandhi's work should inspire in their efforts. New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern spoke of the relevance of Gandhi's legacy on today's society. A special stamp has been released by the UN to commemorate the anniversary.
