US Senate passes bill that could ban TikTok

The US Senate has voted in favor of legislation that could lead to a nationwide ban on the popular video-sharing app TikTok.

Lawmakers are worried that the app could pose a security risk.The Senate passed the bill by a bipartisan vote on Tuesday, and President Joe Biden is expected to sign it into law on Wednesday. If the bill signed, US would ban TikTok if operator ByteDance does not sell it within 270 days. Biden could extend the deadline another 90 days. The app is said to have 170 million users in the US.
