The European Commission was questioned over its plans to develop safe COVID-19 vaccines on Monday, with its Deputy Director General stressing that trust in any future vaccine was paramount.
Sandra Gallina told members of the European Parliament Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety that a vaccine must also be available to low-income countries, with prices kept between 5 and 15 euros. Gallina told committee members that first doses of a vaccine could be available to EU member states by December. Asked about the issue of responsibility for companies producing COVID-19 vaccines, Gallina said would indeed be responsible under current laws and if something went wrong, and could be taken to court.
