Value-Added Bamboo Products: Bamboo Product Cooperative Society Conducts Training

With the aim of increasing income from value-added bamboo products for the people, bamboo vocational training course was opened by BB Bamboo Product Cooperative Society in Zeyathiri Township on Wednesday.

Bamboos are a diverse group of evergreen perennial flowering plants and they support not only for natural environment but also for livelihood of the people. BB Bamboo Product Cooperative Society is conducting trainings on bamboo handicraft products, personal utensils, various foodstuff to those who wish to learn bamboo product making techniquefrom all parts of the country.

TaingKyaw, Chairman, BB Bamboo Product Cooperative Society said “As the procedures of the Cooperative society, we will conduct our production process. By planting bamboos, we can conserve environment as well as can create job opportunities for the locals through making bamboo handicrafts. And also, we can substitute bamboo products in the place of wooden utensils. We can also seek foreign income from bamboo products.”

The training conducts not only how to use bamboo resources for sustainability but also bamboo products making process. 

Kyaw Win, Vice Chairman, BB Bamboo Product Cooperative Society said “The trainees can learn the subjects as they like such as making furniture, drawing designs and accounting. There are trainees from Myeik, Ayeyawady, Sagaing and Madalay. Most of the trainees are from Nay Pyi Taw.”

A trainee said he would learn bamboo product making and it will provide his livelihood on the other hand.

KyawHsan Win, Trainee, Thawuthti said “I learn making process to be proficient and then I will produce the products by myself for selling. I will share the knowledge from this training in my place. I have grown 3 acres of bamboo. I will apply practically my knowledge and will do my business in the bamboo field.”

32 trainees from all parts of the country are attending the course that will last 10 days. The course will conduct practically and theoretically the methods for the sustainable development of bamboos but also for making of bamboo products such as bamboo chairs, tables, beds, swings, handicrafts, bamboo distilled shampoo.
