The Water Splashing Festival of the Lao ethnic people commenced on Monday morning in Na Sang 1 village, ĐiệnBiên province. This traditional festival, also the main annual event, is an occasion for people to pray for favorable rain, gentle wind, abundant harvests, thriving life, and development.
With this, they can let go of the misfortunes of the old year and welcome a new year filled with luck for all members, families, and communities. The water splashing festival of the Lao ethnic people has been included in the list of national intangible cultural heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism since 2017.
