

The work coordination meeting of the organizing committee for the preparations to celebrate the International Day of Older Persons which will fall on October 1st, 2022 was held at the Shan State Government Office, Taunggyi in the afternoon on September 22.
At the meeting, the chief minister Dr. Kyaw Tun said that in the honoring of the International Day of Older Persons, like previous years, the oldest living man and woman in Myanmar will be provided the one million Kyats each as cash of honor.
It’s congratulated and delighted for the most senior citizen U Ko Ko Gyi at the age of 128 years living in Taunggyi of Shan State (South) who received one million Kyats of cash honor as the oldest living person in the whole Myanmar on the International Day of Older Persons for three consecutive years.
Under the social protection system of Myanmar, the older persons at the age of 85 and above are being provided 30,000 Kyats quarterly for 10,000 Kyats per month. As the senior citizens are the reliable persons for the family, local, country and the whole society, the whole social institution including the Shan State Government will carry out regarding the right of older persons.
Then, the director of Shan State Social Welfare Department U Tun Oo clarified the purpose of holding the meeting and the state minister for social affairs, state advocate general, state government secretary and the state level departmental officials discussed the related matters and the chief minister Dr. Kyaw Tun supplemented necessaries and gave a speech of conclusion.
