A Polish foundation and American hospital have teamed up with pediatric doctors to help children with cancer and blood diseases who have fled the war in Ukraine.

The children are brought to a clinic in Poland where doctors assess what level of care they require and decide where to place them among 200 hospitals based in 28 different countries.

Marcin Włodarski, European Operations Director said "The scale of the operation is enormous. As you can see here thus far we have 28 participating countries with 200 clinics worldwide."

With war raging at home, the children were no longer able to receive the care and treatment they needed, and they were often forced to spend hours in basements, a grueling ordeal even for children who are not sick.
