19th Summit of NAM: DPM MOFA UM delivered a speech at the Summit

By the invitation of the Republic of Uganda which is host country of the 19th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) held from 19th to 20th January, Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe attended the Summit.

The opening ceremony of the 19th Summit of NAM was held at Convention Centre on 19th January, and the current Chair of NAM Azerbaijan delegation leader Foreign Minister Mr. Jeyhun Bayramov extended words of greeting. Next, the president of Uganda Mr. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was unanimously elected for the Presidents of 19th Summit of NAM and the Azerbaijan handed over the duty of the Chair of NAM.

Next, the current Chair of G-77 and G-77 and China Vice President of Cuba, President of 78th UN General Assembly, and Chairperson of the African Union Commission delivered the speech. The delegation leaders from over 80 countries attended to the 19th Summit of NAM gave the speech.

The Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Foreign Affairs U Than Swe gave a speech at the Summit on 20th January. The President and First Lady of the Republic of Uganda hosted dinner of honor for the delegation leaders from the member countries attended the 19th Summit of NAM in the evening on 19th Summit of NAM.

The G-77 and G-77 and China’s “Third South Summit” is being held in Kampala from 21st January and Myanmar delegation led by Myanmar Ambassador to Egypt U Myint Lwin is attending. The Non-Aligned Movement-NAM was established in 1961 to promote the interest of the developing countries.

During the 19th Summit of NAM, the South Sudan is accepted as a member and currently the NAM has 121 member countries. Myanmar includes in the countries of establishing NAM.
