5th World Media Summit in China: Myanmar delegation attends summit in Guangzhou

Myanmar delegation led by the MRTV Director General U Ye Naing on Sunday attended the 5th World Media Summit at the Nansha Bay Marina Convention Center in Guangzhou of south China's Guangdong Province.

Themed "Boosting Global Confidence, Promoting Media Development," the 5th Summit has gathered over 450 participants from 101 countries and regions, including representatives of 197 mainstream media outlets, think tanks, government agencies and diplomatic missions to China, and UN agencies and international organizations.

The Summit has focused on Media Development: New Technology, Better Vision, Media Marketing: New Partners, New Markets, In the Spirit of Science and Cooperation: Media Response in Public Health Emergencies, Media: A Bridge Among Civilizations and Media’s Role in Global Development. Co-initiated by a collection of media organizations including Xinhua News Agency, the Associated Press, Reuters and TASS Russian News Agency, the first summit, organized by Xinhua, was held in Beijing in 2009 with Moscow hosting the second in 2012, followed by the third in Doha, Qatar, in 2016, and Beijing in 2021 for the fourth summit.

The event, co-hosted by Xinhua News Agency and the provincial governments of Guangdong and Yunnan, is set to run till the 8 of December in the cities of Guangzhou and Kunming.
