5th World Media Summit :Myanmar delegation attended the summit

The 5th World Media Summit (Yunnan, China) and 2nd Yunnan International Communication Forum was held at Haigeng Auditorium in Kunming City of Yunnan Province of the People’s Republic of China in the morning on 5th December and was attended by Myanmar delegation included Director General U Ye Naing of MRTV, Director General Dr. Thida Tin of the Department of Media Development and Staff Officer Daw Aye Wah Hlaing of MRTV.

First, the Secretary of the Communist Party of China Committee of China’s Yunnan province, Mr. Wang Ning gave a speech to the opening ceremony of the Summit and UN Resident Coordinator in China Mr. Siddharth Chatterjee , secretary General of Kunming Council and Municipal Committee Mr. Liu Hongjian and the heads of international news agencies including Xinhua News Agency, Sputnik International News Agency and Radio Broadcasting station, Bulgarian news  agency, Pakistan Today, Media Turkmen, El Mundo Financiero extended greeting.

Next, the video clip on 10 most popular words about Yunnan appeared on the international media during 2022 to 2023, activities for the development of Yunnan Province and the prior activities of Kunming for the 5th World Media Summit was screened.

Next, the communique on Summit was unveiled by the officials by pressing the button and the opening ceremony was concluded. Then, a video clip on Yunnan’s rich cultural heritages, conservation and making efforts was shown and the exhibition was opened by pressing the auto button.

In the afternoon, the Summit was continued with four sections and the themes of New Opportunities for Media Cooperation under BRI, City – brand Image Building: the case of Yunnan, International Cultural Communication in New Era and Corporate Images in Global Communication were discussed. As a parallel session with the Summit, the study tour to the pharmaceutical factory of Chinese traditional medicine, Kunming International Flower trading center, modern fishing Village, Haigeng Dam, Yunnan Ethnic Park, Yunnan Handicraft market will be taken on 6th and 7th December.

The World Media Summit-WMS is viewed as the best platform for exchanging and coordinating experiences of international medias. Since its inception of WMS, during the period from 2014 to 2021, WMS Global Awards for Excellence, training and 3 programs for media professionals from around the world, live broadcasting across the globe and the World’s News Day for Children. World Photo contest closely reflected poverty, media campaigns given priority to Africa and the international productive projects were successfully implemented.
