Agriculture and Livestock: Plenary meeting and factories inspections

Myanmar Edible Oil Dealers' Association held its 31st annual plenary meeting at the meeting hall of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI) office on January 20th. Present at the occasion were Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein and Deputy Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation Dr. Aung Gyi.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister and the Deputy Minister gave speeches respectively, stressing that the government is making special emphasis on the self-sufficiency of domestic edible oil, promoting the oil crops’ cultivation and achieving the targeted yield.
All those involved in the production chain are urged to make concerted efforts not only for the local self-sufficiency but also for export. They also gave brief clarification on the issues related to the fund establishment by the relevant ministries and UMFCCI and its affiliated associations for improving the quality of oil mills, new oil mills’ construction and obtaining enough raw materials by successfully implementing the contract farming system.
After the meeting, the Deputy Minister proceeded to May Yu Marine products Co., Ltd. in South Dagon Industrial Zone, and inspected the packaging process of frozen freshwater and saltwater shrimp to be exported to 20 countries including UK, USA, and UAE. He gave instructions to the officials for food safety, production of high-quality products meeting the set standards and conducting trainings for workers.
The Deputy Minister continued his inspection on the export process of freshwater fish and shrimp at cold storage factories of Golden Flower of South Dagon Industrial Zone and C.K Frozen Foods Yangon Co., Ltd of East Dagon Township and discussed business requirements.
