Agriculture Development: Inspection tour in Tanintharyi Region

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung presided over a meeting with the concerned officials from agriculture sector at the Perennial Crops Research and Development Center in Myeik Township on 14th of March.

The meeting discussed for the acceleration the oil palm plantations to ensure the local edible oil sufficiency and development of Tanintharyi Region’s Agriculture sector. Then, the Union Minister provided crop seedlings and natural fertilizer worth 15.5 million kyats to the growers at the office of Shwe Du farm.

Next, the Union Minister inspected the rice milling process at OK Yadana modern rice mill and rubber production processes at Ribbed Smoked Sheet Rubber Industry of Pho La Min Trading Co., Ltd and Pho La Min Rubber Industry Co., Ltd.

In the evening, the Union Minster met with the Rubber and Oil Palm growers at the Grand Jade Hotel and provided necessary instructions on increasing per acre yield and quality enhancement of oil palms to ensure the local edible oil sufficiency and to reduce the import volume. Then, the Union Minister coordinated necessities upon reports presented by the attendees.
