Centennial Tradition: New Year Pagoda Festival in Belu Island, Mon State

The New Year Pagoda Festival, held on Belu Island of Chaungsone Township in Mon State, has been organized for over 100 years in a grand manner. Commencing on New Year Day, April 17th, the festival showcases the rich cultural heritage of the Mon people.
During the festival period, the host villagers serve every individual, whether they are friend or stranger, with a variety of foods. Every household prepares various dishes, including drinks, snacks, rice, and curry, contributing to the festive atmosphere.
On April 19th, Chief Minister U Aung Kyi Thein visited KuamYeik Village and oversaw the organization of the festival, which portrays the lovely customs of the Mon nationals.
